timewarnercableMicrosoft will be providing an app for the Xbox 360 that will allow Time Warner Cable customers in the United States to view live TV.

The new TWC TV app, said to launch later this summer for TWC subscribers that also signed up for Xbox Live Gold, will provide up to 300 of the cable company’s channel roster to the game console, and builds upon existing versions of the app on other platforms.

The channels being included in the launch line-up include AMC, BBC World News, Bravo, Cartoon Network, CNN, Comedy Central, Food Network, HGTV, and a number of others. The app will also offer the option for users to control what is being viewed using voice commands over Kinect, once Time Warner Cable credentials are used to log in on the console.

TWC is the latest to provide streaming video content to the console, and is similar to the FiOS TV app offered by Verizon. The Xbox 360 already offers video from a number of other streaming services, such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Instant Video, while similar live TV streaming deals have been reached elsewhere in the world, with broadcaster Sky offering its Sky Go app with on-demand and live programming through the device.
