Electronic Arts has launched the signup page for the Titanfall closed beta here. Gamers must have a PC or an Xbox One console to participate, and an Origin account for those entering with their PCs.
The beta starts on February 14 and will feature two maps and three game modes: Attrition (Team Deathmatch), Hardpoint Domination, and Last Titan Standing. Now don’t expect to gain entry just because you’re one of the first beta hopefuls to sign up; players are selected randomly.
As previously reported, the minimum specs include a 64-bit operating system, including Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. Gamers will also need an AMD Athlon X2 clocked at 2.8 GHz or an Intel Core 2 Duo clocked at 2.4 GHz. Additional requirements consist of 4 GB RAM, 512 MB of VRAM, Radeon HD 4770 or GeForce 8800GT.
On Tuesday, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said Titanfall will be one of those games you must have in your gaming library, and has a great potential to churn out sequels.
“[Titanfall is a] piece of IP that is now very different from anything you’ve ever seen. Very exciting gameplay,” Jorgensen said. “As you can imagine, [Titanfall] will be a franchise that’s around for a long, long time.
He reassured gamers that Titanfall will not have the same launch woes experienced by EA’s Battlefield 4, which is an “extremely complicated” product. Battlefield 4 launched on new and untested platforms – namely the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 – and has matches with up to 64 players. The Titanfall team has more experience with the Xbox One, and the online matches only allow up to 12 players simultaneously. Yet if there are issues, then Titanfall owners can expect Respawn and Electronic Arts to address those issues immediately.
Titanfall launches on the Xbox One and PC on March 11 in North America through a partnership with Microsoft. The Xbox 360 version arrives on March 25.
