Turner Broadcasting System and Live Nation Entertainment have crafted a new kudocast, the Live Nation Music Awards to air Oct. 1 on TNT and TBS.
The broadcast abides by a network trend to amp up live event telecasts including live musical events and NBC’s recent push to revive the variety show format. The Live Nation Music Awards are a joint venture of Dick Clark Prods., Live Nation and IMG.
“With all the honors given to recorded music, it’s great to finally see awards created for live performances,” said David Eilenberg, senior VP of unscripted series, specials and late night for TBS and TNT. “We’re proud to be joining forces with Live Nation, IMG, and dick clark productions to break new ground and honor the most exciting live musical performances of the year.”
Categories will include “Live Performance of the Year,” “Best On-Stage Collaboration,” “Road Warrior of the Year” and “Best Special Effects in a Festival.” Live Nation’s Michael Rapino, IMG’s Mark Shapiro and Dick Clark’s Allen Shapiro and Michael Mahan will executive produce the awards.
