Earlier today, Toyota accidentally leaked news of its CarPlay plans on its UK blog, reports note. The site was scarce on details, but briefly claimed that CarPlay was “coming soon” in 2015 models. That news was deleted however, and replaced with a new post and a correction. “A previous version of this article said Apple CarPlay would be in Toyota cars from 2015. This is incorrect and we are happy to put the matter straight,” it says. “No announcements have been made about if and when Apple CarPlay will arrive in Toyota cars.”
Despite the wording in the correction, Toyota is a confirmed partner for the technology. The pulled post hints that people may simply have to wait until late this year at the earliest to get a CarPlay-equipped vehicle. Some other car manufacturers will support the platform in 2014 products, but these are so far limited to Volvo, Ferrari, and Mercedes-Benz, which are less common on the roads than companies like Toyota, Ford, or Honda.
