When tragedy struck in June 2014 and actor/comedian Tracy Morgan was hospitalized after a horrible accident on the New Jersey Turnpike, no one knew when he might return to work, but after being announced as the host of the October 17 episode of “Saturday Night Live” and appearing on last night’s Emmys, TheWrap is reporting that Morgan will also be returning to films as he joins the cast of the New Line comedy Fist Fight, which already had Ice Cube and Charlie Day attached to star.
Directed by Richie Keen from a script by Evan Susser and Van Robichaux, Fist Fight stars Charlie Day as a meek teacher who is challenged to a fist fight by his much tougher colleague (Ice Cube).
The film is being produced by Shawn Levy, Max Greenfield and John Rickard and the cast also includes Dean Norris (“Breaking Bad”) and Jillian Bell (22 Jump Street) as the school’s principal and guidance counselor.
The Hollywood Reporter adds that Morgan would play the school’s coach. It will be his first big-screen appearance since Chris Rock’s Top Five last year. It will be the comedian’s third time pairing with Ice Cube after the 2005 comedy Are We There Yet? and First Sunday in 2008.
