Twitter today announced the launch of Vine, a new service that allows people to share video clips that are limited to a maximum length of six seconds. Like Twitter itself, Vine is limited in order to “inspire creativity.” Twitter explains that it hopes people will pick and choose what to share.
Vine is a separate application that is used to record the video snippets and them embed them in tweets. The application is first available to the iPhone and iPod Touch, though Twitter said it will expand to other platforms over time. The app is free to download and use.
