Twitter today provided updates to both its Android and iOS applications. The newest mobile version of Twitter makes alterations to user profiles and header photos, which are now much larger and more easily customized. The new application also adds photo streams for events and the ability to zoom in/out on photos posted to Twitter.
Other changes to the application include search suggestions for people, topics, and hashtags; better account management/security tools; and other bug fixes. Of note, the new version of Twitter no longer permits the use of third-party image hosting services. Instead, all photos shared through Twitter are hosted by Twitter’s own image hosting service. The update is free for both platforms.
In addition to the iPhone app update, the iPad version of Twitter has been completely overhauled to match the appearance and functionality of the iPhone and Android apps.
