Everyone’s favorite zombie network AMC is partnering with UC Irvine for a new online college course called “Society, Science, Survival: Lessons from AMC’s The Walking Dead,” which will explore all the deeper thematic implications of AMC’s hit series about creatures with no personality, and also about zombies.
In the press release, the vice president of promotions and activation at AMC says, “Fans of the show know that The Walking Dead is about more than zombies; it’s about survival, leadership and adapting to situations that are perilous and uncertain.”
You can actually enroll in the course right now — classes begin on October 14, the day after the show’s season 4 premiere. Topics include Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, The Role of Public Health in Society, and Social Identity, all of which will presumably circle back around to the age-old debate about whether a crossbow is cooler than a katana.
