CBS announced that it has renewed “Under the Dome” for a second season, meaning the populace of Chester’s Mill won’t be getting out anytime soon. Season 2 will again have 13 episodes and is due to return in summer 2014.
Stephen King, who wrote the novel on which the series is based, will write the first episode of next season.
“We’re excited to tell more stories about the mystery of the dome and the secrets in Chester’s Mill, and are thrilled to have the master storyteller himself, Stephen King, tell the first one of next season,” CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler says in a statement.
“Under the Dome” is averaging 13.8 million viewers and a 3.5 rating among adults 18-49 so far this summer. It has won its time period every week it has been on the air.
