Xiaomi has forced MVNO US Mobile to backtrack on plans to sell several Xiaomi handsets to U.S. consumers.
“Recent reports have indicated that Xiaomi products will be available in the U.S. Xiaomi only offers a small selection of accessories for sale in the U.S. through Mi.com,” said Xiaomi in a statement. However, “there are no plans to sell smartphones through any authorized distributors in the U.S. US Mobile is not authorized to sell Xiaomi products in the U.S.”
The small operator has pulled the selection of Xiaomi and Meizu phones from its web store. T-Mobile wants to put the phones, which don’t operate on its LTE network, through extra certification procedures.
has not responded publicly to Xiaomi’s statement.
