Valve has announced that they are working on native support for the DualShock 4 controller for Steam games on PC.
And Valve had some nice thigns to say about the DualShock 4 as well. Valve’s Jeff Bellinghausen told Gamasutra:
“Believe it or not, when you use the PS4 Controller through the Steam API, it’s exactly the same as a Steam Controller. Not only is it a really nice, high quality controller, but it’s also got a gyro and a touchpad.”
So far it’s only been possible to use non-Steam controllers through third party apps, and those haven’t always worked well. Now Valve themselves will be adding native support for other controllers, starting with the DualShock 4, because they like it the most (apparently).
Sony recently released the wireless USB dongle for the DualShock 4 controller for PlayStation Now streaming, so all the hardware is there and ready for Valve, all they need to do is to write the code.
