Vin Diesel took to his social channels over the last day to tease his upcoming roles in Furious 8 and xXx: The Return of Xander Cage. First up, for Furious 8 he posted this image confirming the New York setting of the film.
Furious 8 is expected to film in New York and Atlanta, and Universal Pictures is looking at Cuba, Russia and Iceland for more locations. Vin Diesel announced Furious 8 at CinemaCon after the unprecedented success of the seventh film, which earned $1.515 billion at the worldwide box office. Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson and Kurt Russell are expected to return along with franchise regulars Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Elsa Pataky and Lucas Black reprising their roles as street racers-turned-international criminals-turned-super-secret agents. To be directed by F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton, The Italian Job), Universal Pictures will deliver Furious 8 for an April 14, 2017 release.

In xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, Diesel co-stars will include Samuel L. Jackson, who is returning as NSA Agent Augustus Gibbons, UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor, Indian star Deepika Padukone, “The Vampire Diaries” star Nina Dobrev and “Orange Is the New Black’s” Ruby Rose. F. Scott Frazier provided the most recent draft of the script, which will be directed by D.J. Caruso. Diesel and Joe Roth are producing with Jeff Kirschenbaum and Samantha Vincent, who is also Diesel’s sister. Filming starts later this month in Toronto and the Philippines.
