A new version of Twitter’s , Vine 1.3, has been released for iOS. The video-sharing app now sports several discovery-related features, primarily a set of 15 channels, which cover broad categories like Comedy and Art down and more specific ones such as Cats. Posts, meanwhile, can be newly “revined,” and the Explore screen lets users quickly find more Vine subscribers to follow.
Elsewhere, shooting has been enhanced with focus, grid, and ghosting tools. For security purposes Twitter has created the option of a “protected” account, which will only allow followers the account owner approves of.
Bugfixes in the update deal with crashes, excessive caching, and continual focusing during recording. Searches for hashtags and commonly-referenced people should run faster.
Vine is a free download. For iOS, people must have a device running iOS 5 or later.
