The announced cast includes Andy Serkis, reprising his Caesar role, Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Judy Greer, Karin Konoval, Gabriel Chavarria, Amiah Miller and Terry Notary. Director Matt Reeves co-wrote the script for the sequel with Mark Bomback.
