WD on Thursday showed off its latest additions to its portable hard drive lineup with the My Passport Edge. Available for Windows PCs and Macs, the sleek drives will have USB 3.0 connections and 500GB capacities. The all-aluminum design is said to match that of the MacBook and MacBook Air notebooks, while also being compatible with Apple Time Machine in the Mac version.
The Windows version includes WD’s SmartWare software for continuous and automatic file backups. Either version has WD Security for password protection and hardware encryption.
The Mac version commands a $10 premium over the all-black Windows-version, which retails for $110. The drives should be shipping to stores presently.
