The first trailer for director Mark Neveldine’s upcoming horror thriller The Vatican Tapes has just arrived!
Starring Michael Peña (End of Watch, Fury), Djimon Hounsou (Seventh Son, Guardians of the Galaxy), Dougray Scott (Taken 3, “Hemlock Grove”), Peter Andersson (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit), and Kathleen Robertson (“Murder in the First,” “Bates Motel”), The Vatican Tapes follows the haunting tale of 27-year-old Angela Holmes, played by Dudley, an ordinary girl who begins to have a devastating effect on anyone close to her, causing serious injury and death. The local priest, Father Lozano (Peña), examines Holmes and believes she is possessed, but when Vicar Imani (Hounsou) and Cardinal Bruun (Andersson) are called from the Vatican to exorcise the demon, it proves to be an ancient satanic force more powerful than they imagined.
The Vatican Tapes marks the first solo feature from Neveldine, who previously helmed the Crank films, Gamer and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance with Brian Taylor. Also starring Olivia Dudley, John Patrick Amedori, Cas Anvar and Alex Sparrow star, the film hits theaters on May 22 where it will face off against both Gil Kenan’s Poltergeist and Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland.
