Microsoft has announced that the Windows Store for Windows 8 is now open. The only way to access it is through the Windows 8 Consumer Preview, which is available for as a free download. The Windows Store is presented in the Metro style. Both Microsoft and third-party apps are available. Featured apps, such as USA Today and Cut the Rope, are located in highly visible locations. All apps on Windows Store will be available for free for the duration of the Consumer Preview.
Popular apps such as Evernote, Kindle, MSNBC, Slacker Radio, Vimeo, and WordPress, and games like Pirates Love Daisies and Carmen Sandiego: Adventures in Math are already available. Apps will be available for both x86 and ARM processors, with the correct version automatically being downloaded. Microsoft says more apps will be added as the Consumer Preview goes on.
The Windows Store also adopts elements of the cloud. A user can log in to any Windows 8 PC and access all her apps and settings
