Syfy has picked up Z Nation for a second season. The zombie show playing is produced by North by Northwest Productions in Spokane, WA. Per the Spokesman.com both the filming, the actual production work is done in the city. the first 13 episodes created as many as 200 full-time jobs, and hundreds of extras AKA zombies.
We just aired episode six. They pulled the trigger because the ratings have been higher than anticipated.

Z Nation has been performing well beyond expectations SyFy’s management. So far this season, Z Nation has been Syfy’s third-highest-rated scripted show, behind Dominion and Defiance, with an average of 1.4 million viewers.
