A reboot of The Baby-Sitters Club is in the works with plans for a new family-friendly half-hour TV series based on Ann M. Martin’s popular book series currently being shopped around by Walden Media and Michael De Luca Productions.
The books follow a group of friends who live in the fictional town of Stoneybrook, Connecticut. The young group of girls run a local babysitting service and confront common problems such as divorce, racism, inclusion, jealousy, sibling rivalry, peer conflicts, and family issues.
Lucia Aniello (Broad City) and Rachel Shukert (Glow) are in talks to direct and showrun.
The book series, published by Scholastic between 1986 and 2000, sold around 180 million copies to date and was adapted into both an early 1990s HBO series and a 1995 feature film.
