ABC is expanding the Grey’s Anatomy franchise yet again. Four years after Grey’s spinoff Private Practice ended its run, the network has placed a series order for yet another offshoot, this one revolving around Seattle firefighters.
The series, penned by longtime Grey’s EP Stacy McKee, is set to bow in early 2018, presumably after How to Get Away With Murder ends its season.
“No one can interweave the jeopardy firefighters face in the line of duty with the drama in their personal lives quite like Shonda [Rhimes], and Grey’s signature Seattle setting is the perfect backdrop for this exciting spinoff,” said ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey in a statement.
