ABC Family is offering a nine-and-a-half-minute sneak peek at its upcoming reality show “Becoming Us” to every user that takes a pledge on Twitter to support the LGBT community.
The campaign, which runs until June 1, asks users to pledge their support for the LGBT community by sending a pre-written tweet. Once a user sends the tweet they will receive a reply containing the preview.
The pledge is a partnership with Twitter and PFLAG National, an LGBT advocacy group. This is the first time Twitter has powered this kind of pledge tied to the LGBT community.
From Ryan Seacrest Prods., “Becoming Us” is a reality show about a teenage boy grappling with his father’s transition to a woman. It accompanies a number of recently slated TV shows that highlight the transgender community including TLC’s “All That Jazz” and an unscripted series from the Discovery Life channel “New Girls on the Block.”
ABC also notably promoted the show during the two-hour “20/20″ Bruce Jenner special in April. “Becoming Us” premieres June 8 on ABC Family.
And Esquire viewers can again catch live coverage of “Running of the Bulls,” which will feature guest hosts on the ground in Pamplona. Michael Davies and Roger Bennett, the irreverent British expats who make up the duo ‘Men in Blazers,’ will be presenting eight broadcast events beginning July 7. Live telecasts will air at 2 a.m. ET and then shown the next night at 11.
