The Acer Aspire S3 ultrabook has been priced for Europe where it will start at 799 euro for the entry model, through to 1199 euro for the top-end model. The notebook, previously known as the Aspire 3951, is one of the first to be built according to Intel’s new ultrabook specifications. Like its MacBook Air inspiration, the 13-inch notebook also weighs in at 3 pounds, in this case thanks to its magnesium-alloy and aluminum construction.
Acer claims that the S3 will wake from sleep on 1.5 seconds and register and connect with Wi-Fi networks in about 2 seconds (which is up to four times faster than regular Windows notebooks). It will be configurable in several different trims, with a combination of Intel ULV Core i3, i5 or i7 processors matched with either a 240GB SSD or spinning hard drives with up to 500GB of storage.
It also incorporates Bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11 b/g/n for its wireless connectivity. The S3’s battery will deliver up to 7 hours wireless productivity, but it is also capable of achieving 50 days in sleep mode.
Although the Acer Aspire S3 will arrive in the US, its pricing details have not yet been made available.
