Acer on Wednesday began rolling out the Android 3.1 upgrade for the Iconia Tab A500. The push brings all the features shown at Google I/O, such as a deeper multitasking system, resizable widgets, and support for USB host devices like cameras. Quirks have also been ironed out, such as respecting the orientation lock when the tablet is at the lock screen.
The Galaxy Tab 10.1 was the first tablet to get Android 3.1 and shipped with it out of the box. Some Xoom users are also getting the upgrade.
Acer hasn’t said how quickly A500 owners will get the upgrades. Typically, updates push out over the course of days or weeks and won’t come automatically. A manual check may get the update faster.
