Today AMD introduced its 2010 lineup of components for mainstream desktop PCs, including a 3.0GHz Athlon II X4 offering. The X4 640 is said to be the company’s first quad-core desktop CPU in the Athlon II family to run at 3.0GHz.
The company has also added the X4 610e, a 2.4GHz CPU that fits in the energy-efficient Athlon II category. The 610e gains 0.1GHz over the 605e, while retaining the same 45W power-consumption rating.
AMD has yet to provide specific launch and pricing details at this time.
