The tenth version of the Android operating system , until now called Android by the press, will be known simply as Android 10, dropping Google’s long-running practice of publicly referring to OS versions by “internal code names” named after desserts.
Android 9 was named Pie, 8 was named Oreo. Google says the change will make the naming more accessible to a global audience, including places where “pie” is not a dessert, or marshmallows are uncommon.
Google also revealed a new logo for the OS (see above).
