Annie Potts (Ghostbusters) has been cast in a pivotal role in the upcoming The Big Bang Theory spinoff Young Sheldon from CBS, per the THR.
Potts will play Meemaw, Sheldon’s grandmother who is frequently referenced as someone that Sheldon adores. She actually appeared on The Big Bang Theory in season 9. She’s described as “a woman who is very supportive of her grandson and his unique gifts.”
The show is the story of a young Sheldon Cooper (Ian Armitage), a character Emmy Award-winning actor Jim Parsons made famous in the long-running series. The series is narrated by Parsons as the adult Sheldon, and takes on some of the stories about his childhood that he’s told over the years of the original show.
