Apple achieved over 9 million in combined iPhone 5s and 5c sales this launch weekend, according to an official statement. The figure tops the 5 million iPhone 5 units Apple achieved last year. Apple hasn’t broken down sales figures between the 5s and 5c, but it’s generally believed that the 5s sold more, since it’s Apple’s flagship product and the 5c is effectively an iPhone 5 with a plastic back and modest improvements.
The company adds that since iOS 7 was released on September 18th, over 200 million devices have been updated to the firmware so far. That compares with 100 million updates to iOS 6 in the same timeframe last year. The pool of iOS devices has increased since 2012, however, making it difficult to determine if iOS 7 is inherently more popular.
