Apple has agreed to purchase assets, employees, and intellectual property from Germany-based Dialog Semiconductors.

The two companies have worked together for years, and Dialog supplies Apple with power management technology for the iPhone. Apple will pay $300 million for about 300 engineers as well as Dialog facilities in Germany, Italy, and the U.K.

Apple will give Dialog another $300 million as a pre-payment for future products to be delivered over the next three years. In addition to this deal, Apple has agreed to source more power management, audio subsystem, charging, and other mixed-signal integrated circuits from Dialog.

Dialog will continue to provide components to other customers. Apple and Dialog expect the transaction to close during the first half of 2019, pending regulatory approval.
