Apple Upgrades CPUs in MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro

Apple is making upgrades to its MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro lines, alongside the new MacBook line. Both lines will be getting improvements, including Broadwell-based Intel processors, bumps to Intel HD Graphics 6000 GPUs, and other improvements, with Apple shipping the updated models starting from later today.

Aside from processor changes, the 13-inch MacBook Pro will gain the new Force Touch trackpad, Thunderbolt 2 connectivity, and faster Flash storage. Battery life will also be extended to 10 hours for the notebook. Thunderbolt 2 will also be included in the new MacBook Air.

The Apple Store now lists the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display with three different models. The 2.7GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor with 8GB of RAM will cost $1,300 for the model with 128GB of storage, while the 256GB version will cost $1,500. A 2.9GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 version, also with 8GB of RAM, will cost $1,800 and come supplied with 512GB of flash storage.

All four of the MacBook Air models have 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processors with 4GB of RAM. The 128GB and 256GB-capacity 11-inch models will cost $900 and $1,100 respectively, while the 13-inch variants with similar capacities will cost $1,000 and $1,200.

The current 15-inch MacBook Pro line will not be getting the upgrades.
