Asus has recently introduced two uBoom series speakers that connect to notebooks through USB 2.0. The uBoom and uBoom Q sound bar-style 2.1-channel speaker sets deliver bass via a tuned reflex port. Both bars have two 2-inch drivers and a single subwoofer, sized at 2.5 inches in the uBoom and 2.25 in the uBoom Q. Each has an amplifier with 24W RMS of power.
The uBoom Q also has slightly better specifications, including a 5 Ohm versus 4 Ohm impedance in the uBoom. While both have an auxiliary input for connecting to other sources, including portable MP3 players, the uBoom adds a microphone jack. The uBoom Q is much more portable, however, as it doesn’t require an AC/DC converter but instead gets power from the USB port.
Asus has not released pricing nor given a date when the speakers will ship
