Beam, a Singapore-based e-scooter rental firm, has partnered with Aon and Marsh to provide personal accident insurance to its riders in several Asia-Pacific markets.
According to a statement by Beam sais in a statement it will provide personal accident insurance to for eligible Beam riders in Malaysia, Singapore, and New Zealand, with partner Aon. In Australia, the coverage will be provided by Marsh.
“The safety of our users is one of Beam’s key priorities. At the forefront of Beam’s vision to change the way people move is the fundamental belief that every trip must have a focus on safety,” said Christopher Hilton, vice president for corporate affairs, Beam Mobility. “This is an important step in realising our commitment to safety, and ensuring that our riders have protection and peace of mind when using our services.”
Riders in Singapore are covered for $50,000 (Singapore dollars aka SG) for accidental death, or up to $50,000 SG for permanent disablement for an accident while riding an Beam e-scooter.
Other benefits in the plan include up to $2,000 SG in medical expenses, up to $1,000 SG for fractured bones, and $250 SG per tooth lost with a maximum pay out of $1,000 SG. Loss or damage of personal belongings due to assault is covered to maximum of $5,000 SG.
