Just ahead of the NAMM show, Behringer has introduced three new Xenyx-series mixers that are meant to integrate Apple’s iPad into the process. The small format mixers all sport an iPad dock that allows for two-way communication between the mixer and iPad. They have a stereo USB audio interface that connects to a Windows or Mac OS X computer for recording as well.
The iX1642USB, iX2442USB, and iX3242USB also share a dual-engine KLARK-TEKNIK FX processor and 32 editable presets such as reverb, chorus, flange, delay, pitch shifter and multi-effects. The iPad touchscreen will control the FX Processor using a dedicated app for changing equalizer settings and can be used to view a full-spectrum analyzer, among other features. The exact difference between the three mixers isn’t clear, though they likely support a different amount of channels.
The Xenyx preamps have a 130dB dynamic range and a bandwidth that starts at under 10Hz and goes to above 200kHz, which compares favorably with much costlier hardware, Behringer said.
Pricing and release dates aren’t yet known.
