Best Buy has announced its Insignia-branded Connected TV (cTV). The Insignia cTV is a smart TV that uses the TiVo interface to simplify searching for broadcast programming, internet content, and chumby social media applications. The cTV does not have DVR capability and does not require a paid TiVo subscription. Two models will be available, featuring either a 32-inch or 42-inch 1080p/120Hz LED display.
Best Buy distinguishes the Insignia cTV by its ease of use. In addtion to the TiVo interface, the Insignia cTV has a step-by-step guided setup. The cTV features movies and other programming from Netflix, CinemaNow, YouTube, Pandora and Napster. The most popular chumby applications, including Twitter, Facebook, Photobucket, Accuweather, Reuters News and Sports, Stocks and Traffic, are preloaded.
The cTV also has volume enhancement features from Audyssey DSP and SRS, and is compatible with Best Buy’s Rocketfish wireless digital audio system.
Best Buy says the new Insignia Connected TV will be available in 32- and 42-inch models for $499 and $699 respectively. Availability was not announced.
