Best Buy is reinstating an iPad trade-in program, having briefly piloted one earlier this month. The current deal gets shoppers a “minimum” $200 Best Buy gift card — meant to go towards the purchase of a fourth-generation iPad — if they trade in an undamaged iPad 2 or third-gen iPad. The promotion runs today through August 3rd at the company’s retail outlets.
Apple is widely expected to launch a fifth-gen iPad this fall, possibly as soon as September of October. Best Buy’s trade-in program may represent an attempt to clear out fourth-gen stock that will otherwise go unsold once Apple has announced new hardware.
