Bruce Jenner is officially getting his own series. Following his highly publicized Friday night interview with Diane Sawyer, Jenner will continue to tell his story with an eight-part docuseries on E! Each installment will be one hour.
Jenner, who came out as transgender during his ABC News “20/20″ interview, will carry his own show, and serve as an exec producer, on the network that’s home to the Kardashian franchise. (The Olympic Gold Medal winner was previously married to Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner, and still is the acting father of Variety Power of Women honoree Kim Kardashian and family.)
The series — which has previously been reported as in development, with E! meeting with GLAAD over how to cover the sensitive subject matter — will cover his journey, living as a transgender woman.
Consulting on the series are Jennifer Finney Boylan, the Anna Quindlen Writer in Residence and professor of English at Barnard College of Columbia University, national co-chair, board of directors, GLAAD and a member of the board of trustees of the Kinsey Institute for Research on Sex, Gender and Reproduction; Marie Keller, Founder and Director of the Los Angeles Gender Center and a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH); and Susan P. Landon, MA, LMFT, director of child and adolescent services at the Los Angeles Gender Center, and a member of CAMFT and WPATH.
“Bruce is incredibly courageous and an inspiration, and we are proud to be entrusted with this deeply personal and important story,” said Jeff Olde, exec VP of programming and development at E! “This series will present an unfiltered look as Bruce boldly steps into uncharted territory and is true to himself for the first time.”
