This week Amazon gives us Episode four of  The Grand Tour, titled Unscripted.

In  this episode we get to see what would happen if show made a completely unscripted film. This means no pre-arranged locations, no set-up stunts, and no planned incidents. Their starting point is in Croatia, where Jeremy arrives in an Audi TT RS, Richard turns up with an Ariel Nomad and James in a Fire Engine…they quickly realize that some kind of script is generally a good idea.

This week’s Celebrity Face Off stars Michael Ball as he goes head to head against Alfie Boe to find the world’s fastest classical singer .

Commenting on his lap, Michael said:

“I’ve got to say I didn’t think I’d enjoy it that much, but I had the best morning ever! I went for it and I just hope I’ve beaten Alfie, that’s all I’m hoping for! I was very very competitive. I don’t think I’ve won, but if I have I won’t gloat or ever mention it ever again.” Alfie added, “This morning was such an amazing experience! It was wet, it was muddy, we had fog, really tricky conditions. I do want to beat Michael, I want to have done well and at least be credible and if Michael has beaten me then fair play, he’s a good guy and I’d be thrilled for him, but deep down inside I’d be a little disappointed in myself.”

The episode will be available on Amazon Prime Video on Friday December 29

The Boys Will Be at the Rose Parade

Ok the boys won’t really be at the Rose Parade but their heads will be.  You will understand in a few seconds.  Amazon is having their first float ever in the Rose Pardae, heck we think the first in any parade ever, this new years. The 129th Rose Parade, held on New Year’s Day in Pasadena, CA.

The float is the first from a streaming service and will be like none before it. The design includes three human-powered floats, each featuring the face of one of the presenters–Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May–inside a giant wheel. The wheels will each have a collage of images from The Grand Tour, including an array of automotive components such as a hubcap, steering wheel and revolution gauge, as well as icons of global adventure such as a map, famous international landmarks and a series of ring roads.

Eight people per wheel will roll the three-part float for the duration of the 5.5 mile parade route. As the first float to be pushed for the entire parade and in keeping with this year’s parade theme of “Making A Difference,The Grand Tour‘s entry is making a difference with one of the smallest carbon footprints in the parade.

The Float Details

Amazon’s entry features an  color scheme of fiery yellow, orange and red hues juxtaposed against crisp black and white. The presenters’ faces are painstakingly rendered with subtle blends of nigella, poppy seed and crushed sweet rice. The wheel rims showcase a vibrant ombre effect of roses, including Deja Vu, Kerio, Voodoo, Orange Crush and Star 2000. Silverleaf protea, black nori (seaweed) and coconut flakes are used extensively to decorate the various automotive components. Vivid mosaics of carnations and chrysanthemums provide a technicolor backdrop for the gigantic wheels. As the inner drive wheels roll forward, the outer cosmetic wheels will revolve counter-clockwise. The various other gears, wheels and gauges are animated as well.

The float is built by Paradiso Parade Floats and designed by Charles Meier.
