D-Link today announced a partnership with San Francisco-based Best Path Networks, a subsidiary of OpenDNS, to deliver Advanced Domain Name System (DNS) Services and Anti-Phishing free to D-Link customers directly through their D-Link device.
“With Internet scams on the rise, consumers are increasingly concerned about online security and the safety of their personal data and transactions,” said Daniel Kelley, senior director of marketing for D-Link Systems. “Through our partnership with Best Path Networks we’re able to offer our customers Advanced DNS Services to provide another level of safety and reliability to their Internet experience.”
In addition to providing security features, the superior service is expected to free D-Link customers from intermittent Internet outages caused by faulty DNS and provide more total Internet uptime, as well as make Internet navigation more intuitive, Kelley added.
Also free to D-Link customers is Best Path Networks’ Advanced DNS Services that offers Anti-Phishing, a mechanism of protection against identity theft and online fraud.
When enabled, Advanced DNS Services will alert users with a warning when they attempt to visit a fraudulent Web site, preventing them from sharing sensitive personal and financial information with an untrustworthy third-party. As phishing scams become increasingly sophisticated and difficult to identify, D-Link is providing Anti-Phishing as an additional layer of protection to its customers and to help ensure they don’t fall victim to online fraud, Kelley said.

Advanced DNS Services and Anti-Phishing features are available free to D-Link customers for all D-Link N routers via a firmware upgrade available at www.dlink.com/support. D-Link will soon begin shipping all N routers with the Advanced DNS Services.
