DC LogoDC Comic has announced that they are launching Talent Development Workshops designed to seek out and give up-and-coming talent an opportunity to show off their work. Jim Lee, Geoff Johns, Scott Snyder, Klaus Janson and Andy Kubert all played a role in developing the two workshops, one for writers and one for artists.

Jim Lee, Klaus Janson and Andy Kubert developed the Artists Workshop, which will “provide the knowledge and exposure required to cross the threshold into the competitive world of comic book publishing.” Of the selected artists, some will be invited to attend a two-week workshop at DC’s Burbank offices.

“Our goal is to identify and foster fresh, new voices,” said DC Entertainment Co-Publisher Jim Lee. “The new DC Talent Development Workshops will play a vital role in discovering and developing the next generation of comic talent.”

Scott Snyder has a role in developing the Writers Workshop, which will meet online from October 2016 to January 2017. From the group of chosen candidates, a smaller group will also travel to DC’s Burbank offices for an “intensive writing experience.”

“I’m so proud and honored to be heading up DC’s Writers Workshop,” said Snyder. “Teaching has always been a passion of mine, and getting to help welcome and coach new voices at a company that’s given me so many creative opportunities is a tremendous thrill.”

For those interested in the workshops, applications for Artists and Writers can be submitted online between April 1 and April 30, 2016. The newly launched Talent Development site also includes information for applicants about the submission process. Both the Artists and Writers workshops will take place in fall 2016.
