DC Universe Online has suffered from a super-powered glitch since the game launched two weeks ago. Sony Online Entertainment temporarily brought the game servers down this morning to put an end to it.
The glitch involved players who chose a ‘Brawler’ combat type with Flight as their movement type. A couple of other melee types like Martial Arts were affected to a lesser extent. For some reason, this combination was able to do massive damage when in flight due to a glitchy multiplier effect. That is now gone per an announcement from SOE.
Basic melee attacks should no longer have a damage multiplier in Flight mode. That was big issues in Player vs Player (PvP) as players who took advantage of this glitch could really unfairly ruin the game for others. It also allowed individuals to cruise through some of the tougher boss fights. This led to the predictable side effect of a sudden influx of new heroes using Flight and Brawling.
There are still more glitches and bugs in the game which SOE needs to address but they look be getting the upper hand nothings with this third patch.
