No dates were given for the start of the beta/early access period, and Bugbear adds that the “release of the Game Preview/Beta versions may vary by platform and may depend on console manufacturers’ “Early Access/Beta” programs and approvals. Digital license keys will be distributed once the console version is available.”

As Bugbear explains on the Wreckfest website, they’re trying to build a fun racing game with attitude. Focusing on the stuff that really matters – “varied tracks and terrains, plenty of cool cars, and those breathtaking once-in-a-lifetime moments that can only be achieved with true-to-life physics simulation” – Wreckfest should feel familiar to players of the original FlatOut.

“This is the game we envisioned way back in the early 2000s, re-imagined for today’s technology and gaming standards,” Bugbear says. “Oh, and we’ve got full-blown, straight-up demolition derbies, too, to go with that full contact racing.”
