Accessory maker Essential TPE is now offering two new accessories for the iPad 2 — a magnetic stylus with an enhanced rubber nib for handwriting or drawing called the Glatt, and a snap-on back cover for the iPad called the Iro case snapsnap, available in a number of colors. Both accessories are compatible with Apple’s own Smart Cover — the stylus can even trigger the wake-sleep function by itself without the aid of the cover.
The company refers to the Glatt as “stylus 2.0,” emphasizing its elegant aluminum design which is intended to match the iPad. The stylus can be snapped onto the iPad’s side, even with the Smart Cover in place. Without the smart cover, the Glatt can be positioned to sleep the iPad as the Smart Cover does, saving power. It’s rubber nib is designed to provide a smooth writing or drawing experience across the iPad’s surface. The stylus will be available in six colors: silver, black, magenta, brown, navy and green.
The Iro case snapsnap is a snap-on back cover designed to protect the parts of the iPad left exposed by Apple’s own Smart Cover. It sports an extra UV coating to minimize scratches, and works with the Smart Cover even when it is being used as a stand. Cutouts provide space for the Smart Cover’s magnets — or the Glatt stylus — to attach. The Iro case snapsnap is also available in multiple colors: glossy black, turquoise, indigo, cream and magenta.
Pricing and availability for the Glatt and Iro case snapsnap have not yet been announced.
