Klei announced today that Don’t Starve Together, their standalone multiplayer expansion of Don’t Starve, is releasing on September 13 for PlayStation 4. Supporting up to six players online, as well as split-screen couch co-op both locally and online, Don’t Starve Together’s launch content is based on the original ‘world’ Don’t Starve.
“It included all the same content/characters as the original DS/Reign of Giants, however it has all been tuned for multiplayer play and there are a bunch of new surprises specific to Don’t Starve Multiplayer, and a lot more are coming,” Klei’s Corey Rollins added. “We also have re-skinable characters in Together so you can both play as Wilson if you want and look completely different based on the skins you find from free drops/unlock in the game.”
You can expect more Don’t Starve Together content in the future. Priced at $14.99 on its own, Don’t Starve Together will be included inside the Don’t Starve Mega Pack, which releases on September 13 for $26.99. If you already own Don’t Starve (through PlayStation Plus or purchase regularly), the Mega Pack will be available at a discounted price of $10.79.
Here’s what you get in the Mega Pack:
- Don’t Starve Together: Console Edition
- Don’t Starve: Console Edition
- Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked
- Don’t Starve: Reign of Giants
- Don’t Starve: Console Edition: Shipwrecked Theme
- Don’t Starve: Console Edition: Autumn Theme
Asked about a PlayStation Vita version of Don’t Starve Together, Rollins said, “We’re not sure if there will be more Vita development from us at the moment, but if anything changes we’ll let everyone know!”
