The first Vaio-branded smartphone has surfaced in Japan, following the sale of the computer manufacturing arm and the brand by Sony to Japan Industrial Partners last year. Simply called the Vaio Phone, it is a mid-ranged device with a five-inch 720p IPS display, using a quad-core 1.2GHz processor with 2GB of RAM, running on Android Lollipop.
Offering 16GB of storage with microSD expansion, the smartphone measures approximately 8mm thick and weighs around 130 grams. Its 2,500mAh battery is claimed to offer up to 500 hours of standby time and around 13 hours of talk time, a 13-megapixel camera is on the back while a 5-megapixel version is on the front, and has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and LTE connectivity.
