Western Digital has worked with design students at the California State University to create five new limited edition My Passport Essential portable drives. The limited edition designs are now available online through WD and in Best Buy stores. Boom Box, Black Hole, Cityscape, Fuchsia Leaf and Wave all have custom imprints instead of the usual solid colors.
Each drive has a capacity of 500GB and ships with WD SmartWare software for a simple, visual interface of the drive’s contents. The contents can be protected with a user-selectable password and 256-bit hardware-based encryption.
Each of the new design drives is priced at $120.
