Jesse L. Martin, who plays Detective Joe West on The CW’s The Flash, is taking a medical leave of absence from the superhero drama.
TV Line reports that Martin suffered a back injury during the hiatus, which is why he has been sitting down in almost all of his scenes this season which have mostly been confined to the West home.
As of right now, it’s unclear how long Martin will be off-screen, but Joe’s absence will eventually be addressed on the show and he’s expected to return.
