Franka Potente (The Bridge, Copper) has booked a recurring role on Season 2 of Syfy’s space opera Dark Matter. The series, created by Stargate writers/EPs Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, follows six people who wake up on a derelict spaceship with no memories of who they are or how they got onboard.
Potente will play Commander Shaddick, Chief Inspector of the Galactic Authority Serious Crimes Division. She is cool, calculated and determined to prove the crew of the Raza were involved in the destruction of Iriden 3. She will join series stars Marc Bendavid, Melissa O’Neil, Anthony Lemke, Alex Mallari Jr., Jodelle Ferland, Roger Cross and Zoie Palmer. As previously announced, Melanie Liburd and Shaun Sipos also have signed on for Season 2 in regular roles.
Potente recently wrapped The Conjuring 2 with Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, which will premiere this summer, and BBC/FX’s upcoming new limited series, Taboo, opposite Tom Hardy. She’s repped by Gersh and Thruline.
