Fujitsu has revamped its ultra-portable scanner, debuting the ScanSnap S1100 at Macworld 2011. The bar-shaped scanner now weighs just 12.3 ounces and measures 10.74 inches long by 1.87 inches wide and 1.33 inches tall, making it possible to easily carry it in a briefcase or purse, and requires only a single USB port for power. The scanner now includes direct uploading of scans to Evernote or Google Docs, can automatically add pictures to Apple’s iPhoto and can also convert scans into editable Word or Excel files or searchable PDFs.

The S1100 features a fast frong-side color scanning function as well as a special paper-path system to make it easier to scan both conventional-sized documents as well as receipts, plastic ID cards or business cards. The company says it will scan a full-sized 8.5 x 11 color document in as little as 7.5 seconds, and detects continuous feeds of paper so it will continue scanning.

The S1100 includes ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap and CardIris for Mac, and ScanSnap Organizer, Cardminder and ABBYY for Windows, and is easily openable for cleaning to ensure that scans continue to be clear and readable. The unit will retail for $200.
