Warner Bros. Japan has released the first trailer for the upcoming live-action Fullmetal Alchemist movie which you can check out in the player below! The film is set for release in Japan in 2017. No official release date for North America has been announced.
The live-action Fullmetal Alchemist is directed by Fumihiko Sori, who previously commented on the film’s production saying: “The cast is entirely composed of Japanese actors, but the cultural setting is that of Europe. However, the race and nationality of the characters aren’t specifically identified.”
In the film, two alchemist brothers go on a quest for the Philosopher’s Stone after an attempt to revive their dead mother goes horribly wrong. It stars Ryosuke Yamada as Edward Elric, Tsubasa Honda as Winry Rockbell, Dean Fujioka as Roy Mustang, Ryuuta Satou as Maes Hughes, Misako Renbutsu as Riza Hawkeye, Natsuna as Maria Ross, Natsuki Harada as Gracia Hughes, You Ooizumi as Shou Tucker, Jun Kunimura as Tim Marcoh, Fumiyo Kohinata as Hakuro, Yasuko Matsuyuki as Lust, Kanata Hongou as Envy, Shinji Uchiyama as Gluttony, and Kenjirou Ishimaru as Cornello.
Based on the manga series written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa, Fullmetal Alchemist was published over nine years from 2001 to 2010 and has been adapted into two anime series previously with Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. In addition, two feature length anime films were produced, Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa and Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos.
