“Furi,” an upcoming PS4 game is scheduled for a 2016 release date and an announcement trailer has also been unleashed.
According to Emeric Thoa of The Game Bakers, the indie studio responsible for “Furi,” the upcoming PS4 title “is a game where you fight for a reason. It’s a game that teases you before the fight, while you walk toward your fate, the same way you would be pumped up and stressed before a boxing match.”
Thoa’s post on the official PlayStation Blog noted that the game’s story began 10 years ago, when he was asked what his dream game would be if he could create one. He responded to that question saying that the game will be a “long boss fight.”
“A boss fight against an opponent similar to you, not a gigantic creature or a demon. A boss fight that felt like a duel – a tense, exhausting, and utterly rewarding duel,” he further described his dream game.
As for the other details revealed about the game, “Furi” will feature combat gameplay inspired by Japanese games. Once a player send an input, the character moves.
In the game, reflexes and skills are greatly necessary to fend off the attacks of the enemy. “You beat your enemies by shooting like in a bullet hell shoot ’em up, and by sword fighting like in a samurai duel,” Thoa, who is in charge of The Game Bakers’ creative content further explained.
It should also be noted that each boss from “Furi” is equipped with a unique fighting style, thus, in order to defeat them, players need to have complete focus and the right skill. The game’s guardians or bosses are designed by Takashi Okazaki, also known for creating the Afro Samurai.
Complementing the action-packed gameplay of the game, “Furi” will also feature soundtrack created by electro musicians. One of these is Carpenter Brut, who also receives credits for creating the theme for the trailer.
The developers are still in the works refining the game as they continue to create the final bosses and a few possible Easter eggs for the game. Aside from the PS4 version, “Furi” will also be available for PC come the game’s official release date next year.
