Garmin has rolled out two new cycling-specific GPS aimed at touring cyclists, commuters and mountain bikers. The new Edge Touring and Edge Touring Plus come with pre-loaded maps and points of interest for both on-road and off-road treks. Users can also program round-trip ride options based on a set distance for up to three routes with distance and elevation profiles.

Both devices are water resistant and center on 2.6-inch touchscreens that work in the wet and with gloves on. The rechargeable battery lasts for up to 17 hours, while there is the option for a solar external battery pack that will provide an additional 20 hours of use. Each also comes with a quarter-turn bike mount, making them easy to transfer between bikes.

The Edge Touring Plus ads ANT+ heart rate monitor compatibility, also supporting the remaining charge for ANT+ compatible eBikes. It also includes a barometric altimeter for accurate elevation, gradient, ascent and descent data. Both the Edge Touring and Touring Plus will go on sale this fall for $250 and $300, respectively.
